Experiencing sudden weight gain?
Unexpectedly without knowing what the true root cause is?
Still cannot find the answer?
This condition can impact up to 7% of adult women.
4 reasons for WEIGHT GAIN CAUSED BY PCOS
1. Stress management
High cortisol levels from chronic stress are linked to insulin resistance and belly fat. Relieving stress through yoga, meditation, and time outdoors may help lower cortisol levels.
2. Blood Sugar levels
Processed foods — such as refined carbs and added sugars — increase blood sugar levels, which can lead to weight gain.
3. Sleep quality
Poor sleep is linked to obesity. Studies in healthy adults suggest that increasing your total time asleep can reduce body fat and promote weight loss.
Inflammation is common in women with PCOS and has been linked to obesity. Eating a diet high in whole foods — especially fruits and vegetables — may safeguard against inflammation.

Which Ashwagandha is best?
In ayurvedic medicines, whole plant rounded powder has been used which ranges in 3-6 grams per day. Other forms of Ashwagandha are typically extracted to give a standardisation of 4-5% withanolides which studies have speculated to bring out the benefits of the herb. These herbal extracts are great to use! Other extracts include KSM-66 which have some great customer reviews and other adulterated claims. Sensoril has the highest withanolides content in the market standardised to 10% withanolides from both roots and leaves which some people do not prefer. Sensoril in our eyes has the greatest clinical data backing its usefulness as a sedative, calming herb which greatly appealed to our formula. However, please try all extracts to find one best for your needs. Head over to our Ashwagandha blog to discover more.
What is Ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha, what can I say. It is definitely one of the most potent herbs in ayurvedic medicines with it’s effects compared to that of hardcore pharmaceutical drugs for targeting depression and anxiety. Ashwagandha (also known as Withania Somnifera) is well known for its stress reduction properties classing itself as leader within the adaptogen classification of herbal extracts which means it helps your body adapt to stress, both mental and physical.
Sensoril is considered non-toxic. Do not exceed 750mg per day (3 scoops). If you are pregnant do not use Ashwagandha as it could cause a miscarriage. Ashwagandha can enhance the effects of sedatives, antidepressant and anti-anxiety medications, including St. John’s Wort. It can also interact and possibly amplify the effects of immunosuppressants, blood pressure medication, and drugs used to control blood glucose levels. Ashwagandha can boost the effects of alcohol. And do not use Ashwagandha if you have bleeding issues, or before surgery. Other possible side effects include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, drowsiness and slowed pulse if taken in excess of 750mg (More than 3 servings daily).
Should Ashwagandha be Cycled?
Ashwagandha does not need to be cycled if taken within the recommended daily dose of 250-500mg. However, we do recommend trying other adaptogens once a 60 day cycle has been completed. See Rhodiola for more ideas
When Ashwagandha should be taken
Ashwagandha is a sedating herb and best taken towards the end of the day to enhance sleep and bring down cortisol levels
